‘Grace’ is Chock Full of Talent

Nate Adamson debuted his first single on September 18, 2020 with a hopeful “Grace.” The single runs closer to 6 minutes long. Born in Vancouver, Canada, Nate discloses that the creation of the track was heavily inspired by summers in Ontario, where he spent time on his family’s farm. Throughout Nate’s life, he has been inspired by legendary musical influences such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Townes Van Zandt, and other country folk musicians. Later, the artist discovered Kings of Leon, The War on Drugs, Courtney Barnett, and Phoebe Bridgers. These songwriters and musicians in contemporary rock fortified his interest in building his own studio.

The up-and-coming singer singlehandedly wrote, recorded, and produced every element in his debut single. Nate handled the vocals, bass, piano, rhythm, and lead guitar. “Grace” is an original with a calm, laid-back introduction. The song’s genre can roughly be described as Nate’s unique take on alt-country and contemporary rock, blending traditional and modern. The meditative vocals provided by the performer are rich and prominent, but never overpowering. The guitar is an accompaniment to his singing, being both in the foreground and background. Soft synth sounds provide a great layout for the song. As the song gradually fades out, this effectively ends the song while still maintaining the inviting, friendly tone and keeping the core sound.

The singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist has been playing and making music since a young age, finally making the move to create music publicly in order to have no regrets. Despite knowing how to play several instruments, Nate has never received formal guitar, piano, or singing lessons. “Grace” is a message he writes to his future daughter to encourage and motivate her to follow her dreams. He hopes that his future child will look at him as a father who role modeled prioritizing what is important in life. Nate credits his supportive family and hopes to never take them for granted, especially after facing depression and anxiety. Lyrics in the song reference his battles, such as “Yeah, I’ll be on my feet somehow. All I need is Grace around. Yeah, I’ll be on my feet somehow, I’m living out our dreams right now.”

Nate’s advice for other artists is to keep working towards a dream despite what others say or any self-doubts. Nate’s short-term goals are to finish the next single to be released soon in this new year, as well as to play live gigs once the pandemic is over. As Nate builds his social media profiles, he can be found on Instagram at @nate_adamson, currently boasting over 13,000 followers. His music is available on Spotify on his account Nate Adamson
