Indie Artist’s Latest Release Is a Must Have for Your Playlist

Bella The Artist is on a roll with YouTube uploads, posting frequent clips of covers of songs across genres. Bella offers seven original songs on her channel. Listen in on “Indigenous Soul” and “Loyalty,” two powerful pieces to add to your playlist immediately.

Bella Mack, known better as Bella The Artist, touts herself as a mother first, occasionally showing her two daughters in Instagram posts. She also lists herself as a cosmetologist, singer, poet, dancer, and writer. Bella is at the very beginning of her music career and has started off strong by putting up over 35 videos on her newly created YouTube page within a month. Bella is currently focusing on doing covers of songs.

Most recently, the budding singer has created covers of Danileigh’s “Situations,” Kem’s “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” Tom Browne’s “Funkin’ for Jamaica,” Alicia Keys and Maxwell’s “Fire We Make,” and a collaboration on Jacquees’ “Shawty Come Thru” with another independent artist, Joethetruth. The most popular cover on her account is a cover of Train’s “Drops of Jupiter” with 723 views. The video was uploaded at the end of November 2020, originally uploaded to Instagram. Bella hums and croons, “She acts like summer and walks like rain. Reminds me that there’s a time to change, hey.” The singer likes to add Instagram filters when she posts covers and the next most popular cover is no different. With a filter flower wreath, Bella sings Ella Mai’s “Boo’d Up” with no musical accompaniment. Though the acapella is a relatively short clip, viewers get a clear idea of where Bella’s range lies. Following that, her cover of Avril Lavigne’s “Freak Out” has garnered nearly 500 views on YouTube.

There are seven original songs on Bella’s YouTube, the first dated in late November 2020. “Loyalty” has garnered 80 views and is produced by blaqbeetz_thewave. The song is mainly in the R&B genre, with a dash of pop-esque beats. Just short of 5 minutes long, the track is designed to showcase Bella’s sweet vocals. Her slightly hoarse pronunciation provides a sensual vibe to her crooning. “Butterfly” was uploaded on the same day and was produced by Champ Gee. This track veers away from the first track and brings on a hip-hop and R&B sound. The video rotates through different selfies and photographs of Bella looking stunning as her fashionista self. In addition to songs, Bella writes poetry. She took some of her writings and turned them into songs. She turned poem “Misfit” into songs, divided in two parts totaling two minutes. Another poem titled “Muse” became a 44-second long song with minimal musical accompaniment.

On Christmas Eve, December 24, 2020, Bella uploaded “Ain’t S#!%” by Steezy Crakk featuring her as a guest singer. Going by her alternative name, Bella Dior, the 3:04-long video has caught the attention of 20 viewers. Steezy’s rap is prominent and tuneless, but Bella’s enhanced voice becomes a high-pitched squeak that juxtaposes against the rapping. She expertly accompanies the background beat and at the 2:15 mark, her real voice, full of confidence, can be heard clearly. Just before 2020 ended, Bella uploaded “Indigenous Soul,” a hip-hop and R&B song. This latest song is likely the strongest in her uploads thus far, with a strong foundational bass beat and her lilting voice, which is stronger than it has been in previous videos. Surprisingly, she also brings out some rap talent towards the end of the song, providing another layer of texture to “Indigenous Soul.”
