Released today, January 27th, is 14-year-old Cloe Wilder’s debut EP, a study in gentle, unearthly vocals. Romantic and moody “Teenage Lullabies” is comprised of seven distinctive tracks with different vibes, yet all meld together to form a soundtrack for youth today. Sam Nicolosi helped craft this compilation with Cloe, their collaboration creating a delicate daydream of friends, crushes, and loneliness. This EP holds more mature material than Cloe has previously released, which is understandable as it is also an observation on her current journey through adolescence. The young artist wanted to create ethereal songs that speak to the teenage experience of going through milestones and the mixed feelings around forming connections.
The EP is a project Cloe has spent considerable time on, having begun prior to the pandemic. Much of the collection was finished during quarantine lockdown. The indie-pop singer is also an exceptional songwriter and is quickly establishing herself as someone to watch. She hails from Clearwater, Florida, though she bounces between Florida and California. Piano lessons at an early age consequently led the performer to discover her passions for singing. Cloe first dove into the music scene by creating a YouTube channel for her cover songs. Inspiration for her comes from role models such as Lana Del Rey, Sasha Sloan, and Lennon Stella. Cloe’s voice is able to bring on melancholy tones as needed yet remains relatable in her artistic themes. Her ability to curate personal lyricism that’s relevant is drawing a storm of fans. Prior to today’s EP release, she had already put out two singles from it, “It’s True” and “Call Me If You Need Me.”
As if the excitement of releasing a debut EP isn’t enough, Cloe also released today the anticipated video for the lead single, “I Wanna Be Alone With You.” The percussion in the track delivers an exciting foundation for the songster to express her hopes toward an unanswered crush. The video features social media star Tripp Bowers and was filmed at the infamous Pink Motel in California.
In 2020, Cloe worked with producer and writer Eric Scullin, who is associated with prior works with RZA and Mark Needham (The Killers). The two, along with three-time Grammy Award winners and Billie Eilish’s mixing and mastering team, Rob Kinelski and John Greenham, created “Crying When I Shouldn’t.” This 4-minute song remains her top played song on her Spotify account, with over 350,000 streams. Produced by Jayme Silverstine (Alicia Keys), “You & Lonely” was her second song of 2020. It remains a popular track in her discography, with 110,000 streams on Spotify.
Cloe’s videos and cover songs can be found on YouTube as Cloe Wilder. Having amassed nearly 25,000 listeners and over 300,000 total streams, her songs can be listened to on Spotify as Cloe Wilder. Check out her updates on her Instagram as @cloewilder where her loyal following has topped 15,000.
