Enigmatic and discreet, Lul Patchy does not tie himself down to only one musical genre. However, his style trends towards pop, folk, R&B, and soul. Hailing from the Lone Star State, Texas, Lul Patchy is a young producer and singer with immersive, captivating tracks. He is also talented in playing the ukulele, a 19th century Hawaiian-adapted instrument of the Portuguese machete. Lul Patchy is part of the Ukulele family at Uku, a global ukulele firm. The Dallas native is also known as Marcus Clay.
Lul Patchy started off his YouTube channel uploading videos of himself dancing to different songs. After about 1 and a half years of uploading dance videos, he then started posting videos of his reactions to a variety of songs. His fanbase grew dramatically from doing that and consistently posting several times a month. After developing a solid following, the entertainer then switched gears and began uploading acoustic singing covers to songs as well as his own songs. What is admirable is his consistency and frequency in uploading videos to maintain his brand identity. Today, he has 222,000 subscribers on YouTube. The most popular video is an acoustic version of his own cover of Sister Prod’s “Eyes Blue Like the Atlantic,” off his “Lov32” EP. This acoustic video amassed over 782,000 views. His next most popular original songs are “Bad Idea,” also off the “Lov32” EP, and “Lost Vibes,”, featuring indie artist Yung Xoxo from Des Moines, Iowa.
Standing with a solid 146,000 followers on Spotify, Lul Patchy’s musical career has only officially launched in 2019 with pop song “Lost Mind” on January 6th. He followed that up with 2 more tracks the same year, “XOXO” and “Forever Lasting.” The 3-song EP titled “:):” stayed under 7 minutes but ended 2019 with a bang, as the indie artist showed his mettle and hard work. Fun, upbeat chords and drums introduce the collection with “Dead Angel,” where Lul Patchy emulates his voice to sound zombie-like. 2020 saw him bring out the track “My Love,” crooning a sweet message about 3 minutes long. It was followed by a 5-song collection titled “Lov32,” which spawned his top 2 most popular songs previously mentioned, “Eyes Blue Like The Atlantic” and “Bad Idea.” The first is close to breaking the 1.5 million streams milestone. A third song from that same EP is also highly coveted by Spotify listeners. “I’m Sorry,” last track in the assortment, earned 313,700 streams. Spotify has created a Lul Patchy radio station as part of recognizing his talent and has attracted over 200 likes for the 50 songs featuring an assortment of indie artists such as Jon Caryl, Shiloh Dynasty, Maggie Lindemann, Sarcastic Sounds, and more. The pop singer’s latest release in 2020 is “I Don’t Really Understand Girls at All,” dropped on August 13th. It is a short 1-minute lament featuring Kid T and Beats By Con. After 20 seconds ukulele strumming and singing, the bass kicks in and Beats by Con starts rapping.
